Rabbi Sholom Twerski
Adjunct Rabbi
Second grade Tefillah, Fourth grade girls Navi
Rabbi Twerski comes from a long line of educators. His father has been a rebbe at the Hebrew Theological College (Skokie Yeshiva) for nearly 40 years. Rabbi Twerski has studied at the Talmudic Yeshiva of Philadelphia, at Birkas Mordechai in Beitar Illit, Israel, and at the Jerusalem Kollel Semicha program under the auspices of Rav Yitzchak Berkovits. Currently, Rabbi Twerski is the Assistant Rabbi at Beth Joseph Congregation.
Rabbi Twerski loves to teach at PHA because the kids come from a variety of backgrounds with a wonderful array of different perspectives. He finds it invigorating that kids are naturally excited about anything and everything and is grateful to be a part of transmitting our Mesorah to the next generation. His goal is not only to teach the text to the children but also to connect them emotionally with Hashem and our heritage.
Rabbi Twerski enjoys preparing and giving over the Daf Yomi Shiur daily, organizing and writing for the weekly Shabbos booklet, and visiting the various factories as the Kashrut Supervisor of the Vaad of Phoenix. He enjoys spending time with friends and family and listening to classical music.
The Twerski’s often host families at their Shabbat table where everyone enjoys Mrs. Twerski’s amazing cooking and spectacular sourdough bread!
